SOLD Aesthetic Cast Iron Table Mägdesprunger

SOLD
Here is a sensational Aesthetic table, circa 1870. This highly decorative piece is made of nickel plated cast iron, with intricate bird designs (not one is repeated on the top or shelf) and floral decorations as well. Please see the pictures and you will discover peacock, cranes, rooster and hen, crows, dove, etc… Note the attention to details, and the masterfully skilled execution of this artwork, that doubles as a table you can use.

This rare and desirable piece was made by the Mägdesprunger Eisenhuette in Germany. Their very successful decorative iron production ended in 1876. The table is marked with the Obelisk and the initials M. E. inside an oval, and the design patent (Musterschutz) numbers 5424 and 5425.

Condition: very good. The table is sturdy, the plating has light pitting consistent with age; it has been polished to a mirror shine, as originally intended. Absolutely stunning!

Measurements: 29″ High; Top is 15.5″ x 15.5″ , Shelf is 11″ x 11″.
