A pair of large antique late 19th/early 20th Century Art Nouveau gold silk curtains with graduated white and blue hand sewn ribbon applique arabesques and flowers, together with a matching valance. All lined and very heavy.

Valance:  The blue in the ribbon on the pelmet/valance is paler (sunbleached)  compared to  the ribbons on the curtains.  The valance is edged with the ribbon all around.  The top center edge is worn through.

Curtains: the curtains seem to have been reworked to be lengthened at some point: below the brush fringe is an added piece of ribbon applique silk, which is actually folded in order to achieve the desired dimension.  The outer edges of each curtain are worn through in places.

This set is antique and in as found condition, with various tears, water damage, stains, worn areas and there is a musty smell consistent with prolonged storage.  This will need gentle washing.

You will find there is plenty of beautiful material left in these curtains to create something truly unique.
