Here is a wonderful Art Nouveau/Art Deco hammered and chased pewter tea set by ALICE (1872-1951) and EUGENE LOUIS (1872-1925) CHANAL , France, circa 1910/1920. This skillfully executed set consists of 4 pieces:
1. A large oval Hammered Tray (24 1/4″ x 10″ x 1/2″); with stylized handles and metal balls, signed near the rim.
2. A bulbous shape teapot (10″ at the widest -from end of spout to outer edge of handle- 6 1/2″ diameter x 5″ high; 3 5/8″ base diameter). Signed on the underside.
3. A bulbous shape sugar bowl (7 1/2″ at the widest – 5 1/2″ diameter x 4″ high – 3 5/8″ base diameter). Signed on the underside.
4. A bulbous shape creamer (6″ at the widest -from end of spout to outer edge of handle- x 2 3/8″ high x approximately 3 1/2″ diameter – 2 1/2″ diameter at the base) Signed on the underside.
Condition: Very good condition. This set has not been cleaned or polished, it is as we found it. There are some light scratches mostly on the undersides of the 4 pieces (see pictures.)
