1910 Art Nouveau Jugenstil Bavarian Andreas Kaut Office Shelf Stand

1910 Art Nouveau Jugenstil Bavarian Andreas Kaut Office Shelf Stand

Here is a stylish circa 1910 Art Nouveau Jugendstil Office Shelf Stand made of oak and brass by Andreas Kaut, a Royal Bavarian Court Supplier of Office Furniture since 1794 in Munich, Germany.

This office shelf is made with great care and skill of solid oak, brass tubing and brass overlay;  the top shelf is solid oak, while the three lower shelves are made of brass tubing; the sides are also adorned with triple brass tubing, resulting in an airy, classic and sturdy Jugendstil design.

Condition: this item is in good antique condition with a warm deep patina, with light signs of use and wear.  It has its original wheels.

Two plaques are affixed to this stand: the first on the front of the top shelf reads “gesetzuch geschuetzt” meaning:  “protected by law”; the second plaque is found on the right side of the second shelf and reads:  “And. Kaut   K. B. Hoflieferant  Muenchen” meaning: “Andreas Kaut Royal Bavarian Court Supplier  Munich.”  The royal Bavarian court suppliers were allowed to display publicly the royal coat of arms of Bavaria.
