19th Century Pair Similar Wing Chairs

19th Century Pair Similar Wing Chairs

A pair of similar, imposing 19th Century wing chairs, found in Germany. The first one has upholstered arms, the second’s arms are open arms. Both are covered in the same beautiful green cut Silk Velvet, both have an applied embroidery on their inside back, each depicting a different family’s armories (these are worn.) Nice high quality trim was used on both chairs. Sadly the velvet is torn and worn on the arms and loose seat cushions (the seat pillows are stuffed with down).

Provenance: The estate of a noble family in South Germany.

The frames are sturdy and in good condition. The front and back legs are carved on both chairs; the designs of the legs are not identical, but similar and compatible in style. These are large, wide, very comfortable chairs.
