Circa 1860 Large Size Brick Red Velvet Portiere consisting of 2 Flat Panels/Curtains and 1 Valance adorned with exquisite and ornate metallic old gold passementerie/trim.
Condition: Signs of wear consistent with age, some water spots and soil on the lining, a minor small tear on the lining of one panel. Two trims on the valance are incomplete. The velvet is strong and in good condition. The velvet fabric is pieced to make the length of the panels and the width of the valance. I found 2 scissor cuts on one vertical trim of one of the panels. Please look at all of the pictures. The panels have metal rings hand sewn at their top edge.
Valance is 95″ wide x 27″ high (including the fringe which is 3 1/2″ high)
The 2 panels are each 38 1/2″ wide x 101″ high (including a panel of lining at the top measuring 12 1/4″ high.)
Please feel free to ask for more information and/or pictures.
